De cruciale onderzoeksgebieden van het Innovation Center zijn productontwikkeling, automatisering van processen en materiaalontwikkeling. Gerecyclede kunststoffen uit huishoudelijk verpakkingsafval zijn één van de basisgrondstoffen voor de producten van Cabka en binnen het bedrijf is de overtuiging dat creatieve oplossingen voor het toepassen van afvalmateriaal uit kunststof in de toekomst nog belangrijker zal worden.
De ontwikkeling van nieuwe materiaal formuleringen gaat samen met de ontwikkeling van nieuwe producten waarvan de ontwerpen zijn afgestemd op de gebruikte materialen. Met dit in gedachten is de focus ook verschoven naar procesautomatisering. De verwerking van de nieuw ontwikkelde materialen vereist een overeenkomstige aanpassing van de productieprocessen. Daarom is interne procestechnologie ook een fundamenteel werkterrein in het Innovation Center. De workflows moeten worden aangepast aan de producten en hun materialen om de workflow te optimaliseren, informeert het Duitse bedrijf.
