Environmentally friendly packaging is a hot topic worldwide. Sappi, supplier of innovative and sustainable packaging solutions, will present its latest innovations during FachPack 2019 in hall 9, booth 260.
In addition to barrier papers, also the heat-sealable Sappi Seal paper will be drawn to the attention during the trade fair. The recently launched Atelier paper board will be another focus at the event.
‘Reducing the consumption of fossil resources in packaging is a major concern for Sappi. As such, we have developed Sappi Seal, a functional paper with integrated heat sealing functionality and a dispersion coating on the reverse side, that can replace papers with a PE coating’, explains René Köhler, Head of Business Development Packaging and Specialty Papers at Sappi Europe.
Fossil resources and CO2 emissions
Compared with existing packaging solutions, Sappi Seal uses up to 75% fewer fossil resources. Production also results in 48% less CO2 emissions (source: Ecochain). Another advantage is the effective moisture barrier against water vapour. Various application examples will be presented at FachPack 2019.
Atelier paperboard
The Atelier folding box board has been developed with the notion of “brilliance meets function” in mind. Atelier combines ‘a high specific volume with impressive rigidity and superior surface qualities, including a unique 10% whiteness’, Sappi claims.
