Samenwerking Mondi en Unilever

Mondi werkt samen met Unilever aan het leveren van een innovatieve nieuwe polypropyleen (PP) mono-materiaal oplossing in Turkije voor het Knorr droge soep-assortiment.

Op de hoogte blijven van nieuwe verpakkingsontwikkelingen?

De nieuwe verpakking behoudt de houdbaarheid van het voedingsmiddel en heeft volgens Mondi geen invloed op de verwerkbaarheid van de productiemachines. Het door Jindal ontworpen verpakkingsmateriaal is door het instituut cyclos HTP als recyclebaar gecertificeerd.

Verbintenis Unilever

De inzet om nieuwe verpakkingsoplossingen te vinden maakt deel uit van het engagement van Unilever dat 100% van de kunststof verpakkingen die gebruikt worden voor haar producten, herbruikbaar, recyclebaar en composteerbaar is in 2025.

‘De uitdaging voor ons was om de benodigde zuurstof- en waterdampbarrières en alle andere fysische en chemische toleranties met het nieuwe mono-materiaal te behalen op hetzelfde niveau als de huidige niet-recyclebare verpakking. We moesten ook een oplossing presenteren die gebruik kan maken van dezelfde productiemachine actief op de productielocaties van Unilever’, zegt Cüneyt Karci, key accountmanager bij Mondi Kalenobel.

Cooperation Mondi and Unilever

Mondi collaborates with Unilever to deliver innovative new polypropylene (PP) mono-material solution in Turkey for its Knorr dry soup powder range.

The new packaging preserves the shelf life of the food product and does not impact the runability on the production machines, according to Mondi. The packaging material designed by Jindal is certified as recyclable by Institut cyclos HTP.

Unilever’s commitment

The drive to find new packaging solutions is part of Unilever’s commitment that 100% of the plastic packaging used in its products is reusable, recyclable and compostable by 2025.

‘The challenge for us was getting the necessary oxygen and water vapor barriers and all other physical and chemical tolerances with the new mono-material at the same level as the current non-recyclable packaging. We also needed to offer a solution that could use the same production machine at Unilever’s production sites’, says Cüneyt Karci, Key Account Manager at Mondi Kalenobel.
